Friendly Tips for Fall

by Sean F. - September 5, 2017

Fall is hands-down my favorite time of year down in the Southwest. The scorching desert heat dies down, the skies are that perfect shade of gray, and I can find some of the most delicious chilis at the local farmer’s market.  But now that it is here to stay for a few months we have to get our homes in tip-top shape for friends, harvest parties, and the days when it is your turn to host your church bible study. So, here are a few things that could help spruce up your home this month!

  • Consider changing the scent of your home. The smell of Fall is one of nutmeg, cinnamon, pumpkin, and vanilla. Trust me, there is nothing sweeter than the smell of Fall circulating through your house.
  • Remove the décor that you brought out for Summer. This is the time to choose a weekend and pack up and store all of your summer decorations.
  • Don’t over decorate. No need to just throw fall decorations at your house in hopes of it sticking. Rather, become inspired by the season and make your home “feel” like fall.
  • Don’t put your pumpkins out until October! Start off with the colors of your home and maybe add a nice throw pillow or blanket first.
  • And finally, make your home feel cozy! You can read as many blogs and tips as you can take in, but if your home doesn’t make you feel like you are wrapped up in a warm blanket every time you walk in than you may need to consider what you find appealing.
